Our Sustainability Efforts
Conventional cotton is one of the most polluting crops in the world. It contributes to 15% of all insecticides and 5% of pesticides used worldwide. This endangers the lives of farmers and their families. As well as humans that use cotton products. Our breastfeeding clothes are made with certified organic cotton. Free from GMOs and pesticides. The cotton is handpicked with care, further reducing its environmental impact. Then crafted and sewn by workers in Peru who earn fair and livable wages.
Putting People and the Planet First
Our goal as a company is to make high-quality nursing clothes to support you through breastfeeding and beyond. Hunting down the cheapest price for higher profit will never be part of our business model. Here at ñuñuy nursing apparel, we are passionate about caring for the Earth so future generations may thrive. Our sustainability efforts start with the design process. It drives every decision we make – including how to responsibly package and ship our nursing clothes to you. It was important to partner with a supplier in Peru that shares the same values. Our supplier is GOTS, USDA Organic, and Fair Trade certified. We value relationships with our suppliers.
Bergman/Rivera manufactures our nursing clothing. They are located in Lima, Peru. Bergman/Rivera is involved in growing white and native colored cotton – in gorgeous brown hues that require no dyeing of the fabric. These projects support more than 160 families across three different valleys in Peru.
Bergman/Rivera was the first company in Latin America to be certified under Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S). This certification guarantees the traceability of the organic cotton from the field to the finished product. This also guarantees a standard of fair treatment to every person involved in the production chain. Furthering our commitment to respect the environment and the people that work hard to create our clothing.
